The boy was immediately given a sip of Humagne Blanc, known locally as the &#8220;midwife&#8217;s wine&#8221;. Did he like the drink? He no longer knows! But it is now clear that this first sip was the start of a great winemaking career: Diego Mathier has already won more than 350 prizes at wine awards &#8211; in just ten years, since he took over the Nouveau Salquenen winery from his father in the fourth generation.
