As an expert vine inspector, he brought valuable vineyards into the family&#8217;s possession. At the same time, he laid the foundations for the later wine empire by selling the fine wines through cisterns. &#8220;I may not have known my great-grandfather, but people often say that I am similar to him in character,&#8221; says Diego Mathier. Generations have come and gone. The philosophy has remained the same: Make the best wine you can and go one step further with each generation.
