It’s about origins, responsibility and the future. In the 30-minute OBT podcast, one of Diego and Nadia Mathier’s five daughters takes listeners behind the scenes of the family business Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen AG – where tradition meets innovation and has been lived every day for generations.

After completing her Master’s degree at the University of St. Gallen, Larissa made a conscious decision to return to Valais. She initially worked on a pioneering digital project for the family business before moving to the accounting department and restructuring it from the ground up. Today, she takes on a control function there – and is also heavily involved in the online sector again. A commitment that shows: The next generation thinks in a networked way.

In the podcast, she talks openly about what it’s like to work with her parents as one of four sisters already working in the business. Clear areas of responsibility create trust – and make it possible to implement the lived philosophy of “tradition, enjoyment, emotion, sustainability and innovation” together. Because of the deep understanding for each other and the close family ties, everyone is not only pulling in the same direction, but also in the same direction.

Larissa also provides insights into the wine year, in which good intentions are not only made on January 1st. She explains why climate change is also shaping the wine industry – and why Valais is currently benefiting in particular from its privileged location. However, another topic is particularly close to her heart: Swiss wine as a cultural asset. It should be anchored more deeply in the consciousness of the population – out of conviction and out of respect for the centuries-old craftsmanship.

It gets exciting when she talks about the future. Succession is not a distant project at Mathier, but has long been a reality. Because in viticulture, you plan for generations: Anyone who plants a vine today is thinking at least six years ahead. It is precisely this foresight that makes you curious about the whole conversation – and about everything that is yet to come.

OBT Podcast – “Muriel asks…”
– Expert interviews on finance, business and practical knowledge.
– Each episode offers practical insights for entrepreneurs and professionals.
– Aim: to explain complex topics in an understandable way and impart directly applicable knowledge.
– Available on the OBT website and popular podcast platforms.

Larissa Mathier in the OBT podcast: Between vines, numbers and digitalization – insights into the family business in Valais.

[71
176,26
post-19563","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-wine-magazine","tag-family","tag-podcast-en
["GET
