We are at the beginning of the so-called v\u00e9raison.  This refers to the period in midsummer when the grapes have grown large enough for the ripening process. This process begins with the v\u00e9raison, when the grapes start to lose their green color. White grapes then turn golden yellow, dark grapes first turn red and then purple.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The wine year to date has been characterized by a number of challenges. There was frost in Valais at the beginning of the year, which thankfully spared our vineyards for the most part. On the other hand, there was also some rainfall, which was an important prerequisite for the vines to get their nourishment and grow as desired. Nevertheless, plenty of water in the vineyard always means the risk of parasite infestation such as downy and powdery mildew.
