Thelygenie Valsar – Wines of the daughters
2 daughters Wines from 5 daughters with 1 common passion
Many years ago, Diego Mathier used to say that the future of the Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery would be female. Not in the literal sense of the word, because the future is feminine from a grammatical point of view. But rather because all five of his children are daughters. A rare phenomenon, known in technical jargon as thelygeny (producing exclusively female offspring).
A few years have passed since then, and the future has arrived at the winery of Switzerland’s best winemaker of the decade. This means that four of Nadia and Diego Mathier’s five daughters are already actively and passionately involved in their parents’ winery.
Vanja Mathier, the eldest of the five sisters, is responsible for the organization at the Hochdorf site of the Mathier wine cellar in Salgesch, where she is also responsible for planning and organizing the numerous public fairs.
In spring 2024, Larissa Mathier joined the family business and is now bringing a breath of fresh air to the accounting department. During the peak season of public trade fairs, she can also be found at one or two trade fairs, where she looks after the well-being of visitors to the stand.
Sarah Mathier is a trained winemaker and wine technologist and is mainly out and about in the vineyards. During the wine production period, her work shifts to the wine cellar and she also actively supports the trade fair teams with her assignments.
Rahel Mathier has been part of the team the longest. She has been working in administration for six years. She is also responsible for booking inquiries for the BnB Vino Veritas, takes care of group inquiries for wine tastings in the wine cellar and occasionally also works in sales.
And the last of the group, Anna Mathier, will complete an internship as an oenologist in the fall of 2024 before starting her oenology studies in 2025.
5x concentrated charming female power and wide-ranging expertise for a successful future of the Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen AG winery.
