Diego Mathier from the Adrian Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery in Salgesch/VS likes to compare himself to one of his wines: it has broad shoulders, a beautiful body and a long finish. The full-bodied winemaker is a talented communicator. Wherever he appears, he captivates people. And he makes wines that inspire. He and his team have already won more than 350 prizes at wine awards. After winning in 2007, Diego Mathier was awarded the prestigious title of “Winemaker of the Year” for the second time in 2011. The champion is determined using a mathematical formula. The title goes to the producer who achieves the best results in relation to the wines they submit. The dynamic Valais winemaker also took first place in the white blends category.
