Stars
This is their Christmas present to the winegrowers of Valais, so to speak. The reward that completes a year of hard work. For the lucky ones, appearing in the box of Valais stars also means the promise that their wine will be tasted in all corners of Switzerland and even beyond. This is because the eight wines that receive the highest score in their grape variety category in the selection of Valais wines are known in Switzerland as “Valais wines”. Valais wines – in which over 1000 wines are in competition – will serve as a flagship for the promotional campaigns of the Interprofession de la vigne et du vin (Interprofession de la vigne et du vin) in 2018. Among them are two Grand Cru appellations!
After Basel, Lucerne and Zurich, the award ceremony for the Valais Stars took place in Bern. Around 100 guests took part. GĂ©rard-Philippe Mabillard explained: “With this event, Valais is becoming one of the most important wineries in the world. this event, we are establishing the reputation of Valais wines in German-speaking Switzerland, but also in all other regions of Switzerland.”

He wants it to be a little “clotted” in order to develop its full aromatic potential, giving it a richness that is nevertheless supported by a beautiful acidity. With its typical aromatics, notes of stewed rhubarb and grapefruit and its salty finish, this wine lives up to its promise.
