Rhone FM, 18.10 2018 – Adrian and Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen do it again! After 2007 and 2011, Diego Mathier once again won the title of “Swiss Wine Cellar of the Year” yesterday evening at the Kursaal Congress Center in Bern.
Winning the most coveted award of the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse three times is a first. The wine from Upper Valais also took the Prix Vinissimo blanc (best white wine of the competition), the Prix for the other pure white wine varieties and two further gold medals for white and red blends. This is quite simply a first.
The Grand Prix du Vin Suisse, which is co-organized by the VINEA association and Vinum magazine, is the largest tasting competition for Swiss wines and a real benchmark with its 13 categories. Valais won 15 medals, Vaud seven and German-speaking Switzerland six.
No fewer than 2867 wines from 525 producers were tasted in Sierre between June 25 and 30. More than 158 experts tasted, evaluated and commented on the wines from 19 cantons.
