rro reports on its website about the success of the L’Ambassadeur de Domain Diego Mathier white at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Award and the gold medal for the Merlot Nadia Mathier at the Mondial du Merlot.
The twelfth edition of the “Mondial du Merlot & Assemblages” wine awards took place at the end of April. At this event, 460 wines from 18 countries were judged. The jury, consisting mainly of foreign experts, awarded 135 medals, including four major gold medals. Swiss Merlots won a total of 43 gold medals, 12 of which went to Valais. Only Ticino was even more successful with 18 gold medals. The awards ceremony will take place in Zurich on Tuesday.
The award-winning Valais winegrowers include Diego Mathier from Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen AG, Christian Gfeller from Domaines Chevaliers SA and Manfred Cina from Cave Fernand Cina SA.
According to a press release, Diego Mathier was able to add yet another award to his tally. At the Decanter World Wine Award 2019, Ambassadeur, submitted by Domaine Diego Mathier for the fifth time, was not only awarded gold but also platinum for the fifth time in a row, making it the best Swiss white wine. /wh
