Another triumph at Switzerland’s most important wine competition
The Grand Prix du Vin Suisse – organized by VINUM and the Association VINEA – is considered the most important national wine competition. Over 550 wineries from all over Switzerland submitted almost 3,000 wines this year. The six highest-rated wines in each of 15 categories are nominated, impressively highlighting the diversity and top quality of Swiss viticulture.
Diego Mathier triumphed in the most popular category ” Single-varietal white wines” with his Petite Arvine Les Pyramides AOC Valais, which was named the best single-varietal white wine in Switzerland – the second consecutive win in this category (last year’s winner was Heida Les Pyramides AOC Valais).
The winery also impressed in the “sweet wines” category: the Gemma Ermitage Rubin AOC Valais achieved an outstanding 3rd place.

The palmarès of the successful Salgesch winemaker since 2007 is impressive: 56 nominations, 16 category wins and 34 podium places set new standards in Swiss viticulture. This continuity has already been recognized with the award for Best Swiss Winery of the Decade.
Diego Mathier has been running the Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery together with his wife Nadia for 25 years. The family has always stood for wine culture, quality and further development in harmony with nature. “Such awards motivate us to consistently continue on this path,” emphasizes Mathier.
With his extraordinary successes, Diego Mathier is now one of the world’s legendary winemakers – along with names such as Angelo Gaja, Marchese Piero Antinori, Michel Chapoutier, Pierre Lurton and Pablo Álvarez.
