39 wineries were honored at the Swiss Wine Gala. Diego Mathier from the Nouveau Salquenen winery won the “Winery of the Year” award for the third time.
It is eagerly awaited every year: the 2018 Swiss Wine Gala as the crowning finale to an exceptional wine year. Around 440 guests attended, including 79 nominated wineries, as the best 39 wines in Switzerland were awarded prizes in 13 categories. The biggest success story was achieved by Valais winery owner Diego Mathier. This is the third time he has won the coveted title of Swiss Winery of the Year. The cellar master from Valais was also able to secure the Prix Vinissimo for white wines – the jury’s favorite white wine. The Prix Vinissimo red wine was won this year by the Uvavins – Cave de la Côte winery in Tolochenaz (VD). The final special prize, the Prix Bio, was won by Bertrand Favre from Domaine de Miolan in Choulex (GE).
