Game canceled, world record missed. At 3880 meters above sea level, the weather did not cooperate

More or less fit players, a spectacular location. Actually, everything would have been perfect for the world record football match between the Winzernati and the Kochnati. But then the weather didn’t cooperate.

Yesterday at 9.05 a.m. it was definite. The president of the Swiss Winegrowers’ Association and Salgesch wine producer Diego Mathier delivered the news after a telephone conversation with the president of the Swiss national team of top chefs Heinz Rufibach: the match has been canceled. Record attempt postponed. The footballers had actually wanted to play a duel in the unfamiliar Zermatt mountain air at 3,880 meters above sea level, the like of which has never been seen before in the European Alpine region. Arrangements had already been made with the Guinness Book of Records, and a notary was on hand to certify the spectacle.
