The Walliser Bote reports on the success of the L’Ambassadeur de Domain Diego Mathier white at the 2019 Decanter World Wine Award and the gold medal for the Merlot Nadia Mathier at the Mondial du Merlot.
L’Ambassadeur de Domain Diego Mathier white is named best Swiss white wine for the fifth time in a row at the world’s largest and most important wine awards, the Decanter World Wine Awards. And at the world’s only wine award for Merlot wines, the Merlot Nadia Mathier wins a gold medal for the sixth time.
As the world’s largest and most important wine awards, the Decanter World Wine Awards are known for their particularly rigorous evaluation process. Over 17,000 wines submitted from all wine-growing regions of the world were blind-tasted by the high-quality international jury of experts at the Decanter World Wine Awards. L’Ambassadeur de Domain Diego Mathier white, which was submitted for the fifth time, was not only awarded gold but also platinum for the fifth time in a row, making it the best Swiss white wine.
“This latest top result is proof that we not only achieve consistently high quality at a world-class level with our wine, but also that the jury has worked extremely professionally and at an extremely high level over all these years,” said a visibly delighted Diego Mathier.
And at the Mondial du Merlot, the only wine award in the world that revolves exclusively around the Merlot grape, the winegrower from Salgesch was once again able to take home two gold medals. Not only was his Merlot Nadia Mathier awarded gold for the sixth time – it was also the fourth consecutive year in which two different vintages of the top wine were awarded gold.
