Major award for the Pinot Noir La Folie
The leading wine magazine VINUM tastes over 10,000 wines from all over the world every year, whether for reports, guides, awards and market shows. At the end of the year, the 100 best wines are published in the renowned magazine – a selection that reflects the highest quality standards and is highly regarded throughout the D-A-CH region.
The Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery has added another exclamation mark to the current Swiss ranking: The first vintage of Pinot Noir from the new La Folie line was awarded 96 out of a possible 100 points. A remarkable success that not only impressively demonstrates the consistent quality philosophy of the Mathier estate in general, but also of the new La Folie line.
The fact that the debut vintage of a new line achieved the highest score in the national ranking underlines the great expertise, the precise cellar work and the fine sense of terroir. The VINUM award fits seamlessly into the family winery’s long history of success and shows that innovation and tradition go hand in hand at Mathier.
The Pinot Noir La Folie, whose grapes come from vines over 100 years old in the very best Valais vineyards, is elegant, deep and complex. Fine aromas of red berries, subtle spicy notes and a precise structure are combined with a remarkable length on the palate. A Pinot Noir with great finesse, which already impresses today and at the same time has excellent ageing potential.
