Vinum Profipanel Heida
At the VINUM professional panel, wine experts taste pre-selected wines together with the VINUM editorial team. The tasting is strictly blind, all wines are decanted into carafes before the tasters arrive. The wines are graded according to the 20-point system. The scores are rounded to half points. The ranking list (1 to 10) is based on the exact results (tenths of a point). The score for style shows how many tasters judged the wine in question to be “fresh” or “rich”. The indication “Fresh (4/6)”, for example, means that four of the total of six tasters rated the wine in question as “fresh”. The professional panel “Savagnin Blanc Western Switzerland” took place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the restaurant “Smith and de Luma” in Zurich. The wines were tasted with the Gabriel glass. The 25 wines tasted were provided to us directly by the winegrowers.
HEIDA
Heida Les Pyramides AOC VS: 18.5 points, 1st place
Shines intensely in the glass, seductive aromas of ripe stone fruit, a hint of dried apricots and orange blossom, elegant spicy notes. Densely woven on the palate, powerful phenolic ‘de juicy acidity. Great wine!
First place went to the Heida from a winery that regularly achieves top rankings in the VINUM professional panels with impressive regularity. The Heida Les Pyramides 2022 from the Nouveau Salquenen winery in Salgesch clearly outperformed the competition. The grapes come from various plots with clayey soils between Turtmann and Venthöne, around 750 meters above sea level. Fermented and matured in mostly new French oak barriques, the wine undergoes only partial malolactic fermentation, resulting in a wine that perfectly combines aromatic richness and complexity with a juicy freshness.
