A special vintage takes shape
The 2025 wine year was varied and challenging – and this was precisely its strength. Although the onset of winter with considerable amounts of snow in mid-April caused increased attention for a short time, the vineyards were spared any major damage thanks to the outstanding locations of our vines. Just two days later, spring showed its friendly side again and the vegetation was able to develop harmoniously.

The summer brought ideal conditions: Slightly more rainfall than usual in July provided the vines with an excellent supply of water and created a balanced foundation for later ripening. The warm months were stable, without extreme heat phases, and allowed the grapes to develop continuously. This was also thanks to the constant light wind that blows through the Rhone Valley and ensures sufficient ventilation for the vines. Even a short, less disruptive period of rainfall in early fall did not affect the positive development.
The harvest began early, on September 8, and was completed on October 3. For Diego Mathier, this start had a particularly symbolic meaning: it coincided with his birthday – and he describes the excellent quality of the grapes with a smile as “just the right birthday present”. Even though the yields were slightly lower than in the previous year, the exceptional concentration of the grapes promises a vintage full of finesse, character and great moments of enjoyment.
