That’s more than a gold medal
Diego Mathier from Salgesch received the “Winemaker of the Decade” award yesterday evening at the Casino Bern. Even if he had not expected this outstanding success: For the experts, the accolade came as anything but a surprise.
Diego Mathier from the “Nouveau Salquenen” winery was already “Winemaker of the Year” in 2007 and 2011. This was at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse, the most important competition in the Swiss wine industry. The event is hosted by the organizers of Vinea and the trade magazine “Vinum”. The title of “Winemaker of the Decade” has now been awarded for the first time ever and went to Diego Mathier. He is very pleased with the great recognition: “My wife Nadia, our five daughters, my parents and I are all overjoyed and proud of this honorable and important award.”
