VINUM Wine Club
The prestigious wine magazine VINUM has bestowed a special honor in its June 2025 issue: Diego Mathier was inducted into the select club of winemaking legends. This award is highly regarded internationally and is only bestowed on those winegrowers whose work has had a lasting impact on the wine world and has made a mark far beyond national borders.
Members of the Winegrowing Legends Club include renowned winegrowing greats such as:
- Angelo Gaja, the exceptional winemaker from Piedmont who has been crowned the apostle of Italian wine by world-renowned wine critic Hugh Johnson
- Marchese Piero Antinori from the winery of the same name – which is run by the 26th generation and is one of the most famous family empires in Italy – dhe not only launched the Supertuscans, but also contributed to the birth of the Bolgheri wine-growing region
- Pablo Álvarez from the Spanish winery Vega Sicilia from the Ribera del Duero, whose 1917 and 1918 vintages have already achieved world fame and established the reputation as a Spanish Grand Cru “par excellence”
- Aubert de Villaine, son of the co-owners of the most legendary wine estate in the world, Romanée-Conti, where just under 5000 bottles are bottled every year
- Pierre Lurton from the Premier Cru vineyard Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion and the legendary Sauternes jewel Château d’Yquem
- Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, three brothers who run five world-renowned Tuscan wineries and vinify wines of different grape varieties on 1200 hectares to produce top international wines
