How nice that you are interested in our Mathier Wine Festival! We promise you: It’s guaranteed to be anything but boring. On September 19, 2026, we cordially invite you to the second Mathier Wine Festival “Wine & Harvest” in Salgesch.
When the scent of pressed grapes wafts like a soft cloud over our wine cellar, it is the height of the winegrowing year. This is when an extensive wine tasting, to which we welcome you in our cozy Stübli in the winery, is particularly enjoyable. What you enjoy in your glass will be revealed to you afterwards on a guided hike through our Salgesch vineyards. Accompanied by a hiking guide, you will experience what it means to walk through “hell” on the 90-minute tour. Don’t worry: the hike is completely safe and not challenging. Afterwards, you can proudly claim that you not only made it to hell, but also made it back safe and sound. Your local hiking guide will tell you exactly what hell is all about.
Back in Salgesch and a little richer in wine knowledge, you will meet Diego Mathier as he works at one of the most important places in the grape harvest. At the place where the grapes from the vineyards are delivered for pressing, he keeps a watchful eye during the harvest to ensure that only the best quality grapes make it to the press. Take advantage of this rare opportunity and gain exciting, informative insights behind the scenes of the grape harvest at this control center – at first hand.
So much exercise and knowledge makes you hungry. How good that the Barrique “Wine & Cheese” restaurant is just a stone’s throw away from the winery and awaits you with fine food and wines.
