How nice that you are interested in our Mathier wine festival. And we promise you: it’s guaranteed to be anything but boring! From September 18 to 20, 2025 , we cordially invite you to the first Mathier Wine Festival “Wine & Harvest” in Salgesch.
When the aroma of pressed grapes wafts like a soft cloud over our wine cellar, it’s the height of the winegrowing year. This is when an extensive wine tasting, to which we welcome you in our cozy Stübli in the winery, is particularly enjoyable. What you have enjoyed in your glass will be revealed to you afterwards on a guided hike through our Salgesch vineyards. Accompanied by a hiking guide, you will experience what it means to walk through “hell” on this 90-minute tour. But don’t worry, the hike is completely safe and not demanding. Afterwards, you can proudly claim that you not only made it to hell but also made it back safely. By the way, what exactly hell is all about… well, it’s best to wait for your hiking guide, we don’t want to give too much away at this point.
Back in Salgesch and guaranteed to be a lot richer in wine knowledge, you will meet Diego Mathier as he works at one of the most important places in the grape harvest. At the place where the grapes from the vineyards are delivered for pressing, Diego Mathier keeps a watchful eye during the harvest to ensure that only grapes of the very best quality make it to the press. Take advantage of this rare opportunity and gain an insightful, exciting and informative first-hand look behind the scenes of the grape harvest at this control center.
So much exercise and knowledge inevitably make you hungry. How good that the Barrique “Wine & Cheese” restaurant is just a stone’s throw away from the winery and awaits you with fine food and wines.
During the individual days, you can arrive within the event times as you wish. If you want to enjoy several or all of the program items, you should allow sufficient time and not arrive in the (late) afternoon.
