SALGESCH | On June 14, Diego Mathier won a title at the famous Decanter World Wine Award with the first vintage of the new white wine “Ambassadeur des Domaines”.
It took five years of tinkering, testing and tasting before Diego Mathier was satisfied with the result. “When we launch a new wine on the market, we want it to be a quality product right from the start. We are perhaps a little perfectionist in that respect,” laughs Diego Mathier, owner of the Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery. The development of a new wine always takes a lot of time and patience. “We only harvest once a year. Unlike a chef working on a new recipe, we can’t start new experiments every day. In our industry, this is a process that takes years.” A process that the Salgesch wine family seems to have a good knack for, as the results are impressive. The newly developed white “Ambassadeur des Domaines” recently won one of the 114 regional trophies at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
