Diego Mathier nominated for 2025
Business award The Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen winery, owned by Salgesch winemaker Diego Mathier, was named one of the 100 exemplary Swiss family businesses by Ernst & Young EY in 2010. But that’s not all. Diego Mathier is now one of the four nominees for the 2025 “Entrepreneur Of The Year Switzerland” award presented by EY in the “Entrepreneurs in Family Business” category.
According to a press release, the Family Business category focuses on traditional family businesses that have been successfully managed for at least three generations.
Last year, the family-run company Galliker Transporte from Altishofen in Lucerne, which employs over 3,500 people, came out on top against the well-known confectionery manufacturer Kambly.
The four nominees for this year’s award have now been announced. Numerous applications were received. The award ceremony will take place on October 17 in the Kursaal Bern.
Diego Mathier is delighted to have been nominated for the 2025 Business Award. “For us, the nomination is an extremely valuable recognition of our long-standing commitment to quality, innovation and family continuity in Valais viticulture,” Diego Mathier is quoted as saying in the press release.
But the news does not stop there. The specialist wine magazine “Vinum” has invited Diego Mathier to join the ranks of European winemaking legends. These include winegrowers who have left a lasting mark on the wine world with their work and have made their mark far beyond national borders. Members of the club include Angelo Gaja from Piedmont, Aubert de Villaine from the Romande-Conti’ winery and Pierre Lurton from the Cheval Blanc and Chäteau d’Yquem wineries. (wh)
