Tasting of the new 2022 vintage

The 2022 vintage of Chasselas is currently being tasted at Salon Bleu in the Mathier family winery. Several bottles fill the long rectangular table at which Diego Mathier, Nadia Mathier and their head oenologist Cédric Leyat compose the new vintages year after year. Today, for the first time, cellar employee Michel Fritsch is also taking part in the tasting.

The fact that there are so many different bottles on the table today is explained by the fact that each bottle contains exactly one sample of Chasselas from one tank. And there is a good reason for this. The Mathier family grows Chasselas in different vineyards in Valais. Each wine tank is tasted individually before a decision is made as to which wines will be married together in the bottle. Only when these individual wines are blended in the right proportions, i.e. when the different wines are brought into perfect harmony with each other, can we speak of an incomparable moment of pleasure in the glass.

The anticipation for the new vintage is certainly very high among all those involved from the best Swiss winery of the decade. Without exception, the 2022 Chasselas is very refreshing, concentrated and fruity. In short, it will have everything you need for a harmonious Chasselas.
